Matt Lanier from the Division of Imaging Research Center (IRC) has received a promotion to Advanced MRI Technologist. The Department of Radiology would like to congratulate Matt for his achievement.
Matt started with the IRC in March of 2013. He is ARRT certified in Radiography and MRI and trained in CT. He happened on the career by chance when some others fell through, so he toured the Radiology Department here at Cincinnati Children’s where his mom worked at the time. Imaging really interested him, so he chose to pursue a program in Indiana. The rest is history!
To be promoted to Advanced Tech, you need to have achieved two consecutive excellent ratings, be in good standing within your department, and possess advanced knowledge of MRI concepts and equipment. You need to be considered a “go to” in the MRI field and a team player. You need to have a positive attitude, receive three letters of recommendation, write a personal letter of justification, and pass a committee vote, in which one vote against would deny the promotion. It’s quite an honor and Matt is so deserving. He is a pillar in our department and we’re so lucky to have him!
Matt piloted the HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) efforts here at Cincinnati Children’s and continues to be an strong influence in that program. He has been published for his effort on many research endeavors and was accepted for an oral presentation at the national SMRA meeting in Glassglow, Scotland, this past September. Matt is married, has two cats, loves death metal, Star Wars, cat videos and The Chive. He can recite almost any line from any movie and prides himself on his plethora of trivia knowledge.
Again, congratulations Matt on a well deserved promotion!
