Radiology MVP Spotlight: How Child Life Specialist Haley Luedeke Elevates the Patient Experience

It takes a lot of people to make sure our patients have the best experience while receiving the imaging necessary for their care. February’s Radiology MVP is one of our team members who is responsible for making sure each of our patient’s unique needs is met during their visit. Haley Luedeke, child life specialist, has been recognized for her can-do approach to even the most complex patient and family encounters, never batting an eye and always remaining calm as she steps in to assist a patient prepare for their imaging.  She wants each patient to have a successful appointment and shows up with a forward-thinking and creative approach to make sure that happens.

Haley’s impact is reflected in the patient and family surveys that thank her for the care she provided during their visits. We are thankful for the collaboration we have with Haley and the rest of the child life team that allows us to provide the best care possible to all the patients who come through our department. Below is Haley’s nomination:

Even when faced with difficult or high-stress situations, Haley approaches every challenge head-on with confidence and compassion. She is consistently available to support staff and is always willing to step in wherever she is needed, often without being asked. Her calm presence and “can?do” attitude bring reassurance to patients, families, and team members alike, even during the most stressful encounters. Haley is deeply committed to the success of the radiology team and contributes in meaningful ways beyond her core responsibilities. She brings innovation and fresh ideas to the table, continuously looking for ways to improve patient experiences and team processes. Her creativity and forward-thinking approach help elevate the care we provide and strengthen collaboration across disciplines.

Most importantly, Haley’s impact is clearly reflected in patient and family feedback. She has been recognized by name multiple times, described as incredible, excellent, fantastic, and a light during a very stressful time. These words speak volumes about the trust and comfort she provides to families when they need it most. Haley’s dedication, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond—often without recognition—make her a true “unsung hero” in radiology. She exemplifies what it means to be an MVP and plays a vital role in making radiology a supportive, positive, and exceptional place to work and receive care.

Congratulations to our other February MVP nominees. We would not be the great team we are without you!
