Peyton Hennessy’s path to pediatric sonography was anything but ordinary. What began as a journey through advanced mathematics and statistics ultimately led her to a career centered on helping others, connecting with patients, and making a meaningful difference every day. Now, as the newest pediatric sonographer on the radiology team at Cincinnati Children’s, Peyton is excited to bring her passion for patient care to one of the nation’s leading pediatric healthcare organizations.
Originally from Florence, Kentucky, Peyton recently made the move to downtown Cincinnati. She graduated from Northern Kentucky University, where she initially pursued a degree in actuarial science. Although she enjoyed the challenge of working with numbers, Peyton realized that a career focused solely on mathematics was not the right fit for her long-term goals.
“After four years of studying math and statistics, I discovered that working with numbers wasn’t as fulfilling as I had hoped,” Peyton says. “I found myself drawn to the medical field because I genuinely enjoy helping people.”
That desire to make a direct impact on others’ lives ultimately led her to sonography. For Peyton, one of the most rewarding aspects of the profession is the opportunity to work closely with patients and see firsthand how her skills contribute to their care and well-being.
Having lived in the Greater Cincinnati area, Peyton has long admired Cincinnati Children’s and its profound impact on the community. The hospital’s reputation for excellence and commitment to improving the lives of children and families inspired her to join the team and begin the next chapter of her career.
Outside of work, Peyton enjoys an active lifestyle and spending time outdoors. Whether she is hiking, camping, or kayaking through Kentucky’s scenic Red River Gorge, she takes every opportunity to explore nature. She is also kept busy by her energetic 10-month-old dachshund Penny, who ensures there is never a dull moment at home.
When the weather calls for indoor activities, Peyton enjoys watching true crime documentaries and revisiting favorite comfort films, especially Pride and Prejudice.
As she begins her journey in pediatric imaging, Peyton is eager to learn, grow, and expand her expertise. She looks forward to making meaningful connections with patients and families while continuing to develop her skills as a sonographer.
Please join us in welcoming Peyton to the Cincinnati Children’s Radiology team. We are excited to have her on board and look forward to seeing all she will accomplish in pediatric care.
