Cincinnati Children’s Radiology Patient Experience Update

Cincinnati Children’s Radiology Patient Experience Update

The February Patient Experience Update highlights how families experienced Radiology services in January, offering a clear picture of what matters most to patients—timeliness, communication, compassion, and child?friendly care. The data and feedback reflect a department-wide commitment to creating an environment where children feel safe and families feel supported.

Families continued to report exceptionally positive experiences throughout Radiology. In January:

  • 97% of patients and families agreed that Radiology staff:
    • Treated them with courtesy and respect
    • Listened carefully
    • Explained things in a way they understood
    • Responded to concerns and complaints
    • Were concerned for their comfort
    • Prioritized their child’s safety
  • 97.3% agreed their visit was child-friendly and age-appropriate, reinforcing the department’s focus on creating a welcoming, developmentally sensitive environment for every child.

These numbers reflect not only technical excellence but also the human connection that families consistently value.

One family shared a remarkable reflection on their visit—an account that captures the heart of what Radiology strives to deliver every day:

“For years, I have gone along to support family members, church members, and others to hospitals. I have learned that hospital time is not normal human time. However, this was the only experience I have ever had where a medical facility was not only on time, on real human time, but was faster. It was the smoothest check in, procedure experience, and overall experience I have ever experienced. As I told a loved one later, ‘Cincinnati Children’s knocked it out of the park.’

If you review my child’s chart for this day… from the check in to the ultrasound to the MRI, every staff member was stunning. Your staff, in every interaction, was legendary.”

This feedback speaks to several strengths families consistently highlight:

  • Efficiency without sacrificing care
  • Clear communication at every step
  • A seamless experience across multiple modalities
  • Staff who go above and beyond to support both child and caregiver

When families describe their experience as “legendary,” it reflects the collective effort of schedulers, technologists, nurses, physicians, and support staff working in harmony.

The January results reinforce that Radiology’s focus on empathy, communication, and child-centered care continues to make a meaningful difference. High scores and powerful testimonials like this show how every interaction—no matter how routine it may seem—shapes a family’s trust and comfort.
