August Radiology MVP: Carey Eiser, RN III

The August Radiology MVP has been decided. When it comes to teamwork, Carey Eiser, RN III, takes the cake no matter where she is working and who she is working with. Carey’s nomination calls out her attentiveness to the needs of patients and her teammates, being the first to step in whenever and wherever help is needed. Carey leads the Patient and Family Experience Committee for Radiology and exemplifies the importance of building the trust of patients and families and celebrating the wins. When it comes to her peers and teammates, Carey shares her expertise with those she works with through writing articles for newsletters, assisting the radiology blog team, and leading regulatory preparedness work for the anesthesia imaging team. Carey’s dedication to radiology and everyone she touches makes her a true MVP!

Carey CONSISTENTLY goes above and beyond in almost EVERY situation. I watch the connection that she makes with each family that she cares for. She has a great record of trying patients without GA- and completing a successful scan. Carey gains the patient and family’s trust. She fully prepares the patient. She coordinates Child Life and proper personnel to offer support. From START to FINISH, Carey stays with the patient (either in the scan room or monitors closely in the control area). This is a HUGE help to technologists because we are focusing on image quality.

Carey is the first to run in the scan room to help the patient. Whether it is covering them with a blanket because they are cold, scratching an itchy nose, or helping just to make the patient comfortable, Carey is there. Her attention to patient care and compassion are outstanding. When patients complete their scan (whether with GA or not) Carey takes time to make the patient a Bravery Certificate and celebrate the child’s accomplishments on a successful scan.

Carey is an active member of the Patient Experience Committee. She is always making helpful suggestions to improve our families’ experiences. She is also a member of our Radiology blog team. Over the past year, Carey has written many informative articles for patients, families, and employees. Lastly, when no one is paying attention during late afternoons, Carey can often be found emptying all of our departments’ dirty laundry and trash. She has half of the area cleaned before EVS even arrives! She also helps techs with non-sedates in the afternoons. Carey leads by example. She is motivated and optimistic. This creates such a positive work environment. I don’t know what we’d do without her!
