Hi, my name is Mishka Hoo Kim, but feel free to call me Mish. I’m from Kingston, Jamaica, where I have lived all my life. Growing up in Jamaica, I was surrounded by our vibrant culture, warm and welcoming people, and of course our beautiful beaches. Some of my happiest memories are exploring Jamaica’s hidden treasures, jumping carnival, and going to Hellshire beach with family and friends to eat fried fish and festival.

My interest in the medical field began when I was 12 years old during a science class where I observed the dissection of a cow’s eye. This moment sparked my fascination with the anatomy of the eye. By high school, my love for biology solidified my desire to pursue medicine. Also, knowing that my future career could have a meaningful impact on people’s lives drew me closer to this calling.
At Cincinnati Children’s, I will be working as a clinical radiology research fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Trout and Dr. Jonathan Dillman. My work will primarily focus on projects in pediatric imaging.

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by going to the gym and playing tennis. I also love listening to music, experimenting as a home chef, and spending time at the beach whenever I get the chance.

The last book I read was The Pivot Year by Brianna Wiest, and the last movie I watched was Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, but I’ll admit—I’ve also rewatched the entire Harry Potter series for what feels like the millionth time. Some things just never get old.
