Dana Jordan embarked on her journey at Cincinnati Children’s in 1998, where she initially joined the Radiology file room team. During this period, the department relied on traditional film-based imaging, with radiologic images stored in folders known as “JACKETS” alongside patients’ records. Dana’s role resembled that of a librarian, managing these records housed in a designated room. After dedicating five years to this role, Dana transitioned to becoming a patient care assistant (PCA), marking just the beginning of her impactful career trajectory.
Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, Dana’s upbringing was shaped by her mother and three siblings. Fond memories include attending NBA and NFL games, emblematic of her roots in Indy. However, it was her sibling’s experience with cerebral palsy that ignited Dana’s passion for the medical field. Inspired by a desire to help others, she volunteered at local shelters alongside her grandmother. At Cincinnati Children’s, Dana found the opportunity to channel her compassion into tangible support, further volunteering at the nearby Ronald McDonald House.
Reflecting on her journey, Dana emphasizes the gratification derived from aiding individuals during challenging life circumstances. In her own words, “It’s a wonderful feeling knowing you are helping someone who is in need or dealing with major life events that can turn your whole world upside down.”
Within the Radiology department, Dana found invaluable guidance from mentors such as Gwen MacIntosh and Jean Turner. Describing them as maternal figures who exuded love and compassion, Dana underscores their unwavering support and commitment to teamwork, even amidst their own busy schedules.
For Dana, caring for others isn’t just a profession—it’s her number one passion.
