In the Radiology department of Cincinnati Children’s, our team has been working to reduce the radiation dose to as low as possible while maintaining image quality. Our new lower dosage x-ray and fluoroscopy techniques pick up minute details like logos and clothing folds that can interfere with radiologist’s reading and sometimes require a repeat image, which means additional radiation.
Wearing a gown is now required for most of our for fluoro and x-ray exams to allows us to obtain the best image possible.
The yellow arrows demonstrate where a decal on a t-shirt worn during an abdomen (belly) x-ray shows up on the image.
