On September 13, we celebrated a momentous occasion in Radiology: the 37th year that our very own ultrasound technologist, Lori Muench, had been a Cincinnati Children’s employee. While it’s not rare for many Cincinnati Children’s employees to be long-term staff with decades of experience, this will be Lori’s last employee anniversary. She will be retiring on November 1, 2019.

Lori started her career at Cincinnati Children’s on September 13, 1982, as a radiography technologist. She began cross-training in ultrasound in 1988 as the fourth technologist on staff. Two years later, she earned her certification as a diagnostic medical sonographer. She has seen the hospital, as well as the department, go through numerous changes and grow. The ultrasound staff alone has grown from a team of when when Lori started to over 40 employees
You may have seen Lori at Outpatient Anderson, Outpatient Kentucky, or at the Burnet campus. If you have been fortunate enough to be one of Lori’s patients over the past 37 years, count yourself lucky. Her experience and skill level is abundant, and she has been involved with training multiple technologists through the years. Lori will definitely be missed, but we are excited for her to begin the next chapter of her life (enjoying time with her husband and visiting her three daughters – and in time future grandchildren – hint, hint girls). Congratulations on a full career; we will miss your smiling face and your fun-loving personality!
