I’m Alana Mahley, coordinator of regulatory affairs for the Radiology Department. I’m also an administrative assistant to Drs. Abruzzo, Racadio, Patel, Aguado, Nasser, Brody and Sharp. I’ve worked at Cincinnati Children’s since December 2012.
I love supporting four of the five interventional radiology physicians and three other physicians in the department. Before coming to Cincinnati Children’s, I knew very little of what Interventional Radiology was, and I have loved getting to learn and see some of what these doctors do on a daily basis. Although I do not have kids (and do not plan to for quite a while), one of the common things I hear parents I personally know say is that they have experienced pediatric doctors that fail to treat their child like an individual and instead treat them as a number on a chart. Every physician, tech, and nurse I have come into contact with while working here treats patients and families genuinely. It is obvious they care and want what is best for each individual patient.
A few of my favorite things include: the TV show Gilmore Girls (even though the series has ended, I still love re-watching on DVD), Reese’s peanut butter cups, the Schaumburg Boomers (the professional minor league baseball team my husband plays for), and Skyline! I also love volleyball and began playing in the 5th grade; I played all the way through college at the University of the Cumberlands in Southern Kentucky. Even though my playing days are over, I coach for a Junior Olympic club team called Xplosion Volleyball Club.
