NBC’s Today Show recently featured Cincinnati Children’s research on the effects of screen time on children’s brain development.
The Imaging Research Center’s Dr. Nehal Parikh and his team are making significant strides in understanding the effects of screen time on children’s brain development. Their research focuses on children from birth to five years old, aiming to uncover how screen time influences both brain function and behavior. Complementing this work, Dr. John Hutton has been investigating similar themes within the IRC for several years, yielding valuable publications that enhance our knowledge of how screen time affects young children. This collaborative effort is crucial in fostering a greater understanding of child development in a digital age.
Dr. John Hutton has been a physician at Cincinnati Children’s for many years but recently joined UT Southwestern and Children’s Health in Dallas, TX.
The Department of Radiology’s Imaging Research Center (IRC) is an interdisciplinary research laboratory and shared facility resource that investigates medical imaging’s role in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. We provide investigators at Cincinnati Children’s, the University of Cincinnati, and other research institutions access to advanced image acquisition and post-processing methods. Our goal is to develop and provide state-of-the-art imaging tools to basic science, translational, and clinical researchers.
