The Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation recognizes faculty achievement in research, clinical care, education, entrepreneurship, mentoring, advocacy and service. For the seventh year, the Research Foundation celebrated the occasion with a Faculty Awards Ceremony. One of those honored recipients was none other than Radiology’s own Dr. Michael Gelfand, who was presented with the Clinical Care Achievement Award. Radiologist-in-Chief Dr. Brian Coley had the pleasure of presenting the award to Dr. Gelfand.

Dr. Gelfand has been with the hospital for about 40 years and has been instrumental in improving molecular medicine care and imaging. In his career he has achieved so many things, such as defining the anatomic and functional imaging of sickle cell disease, biliary atresia, and urinary tract infections, to name a few. He modernized our imaging of neuroblastoma and brought therapeutic MIBG treatment to Cincinnati Children’s.
Since 1978, Dr. Gelfand has worked to reduce radiation doses in children. His efforts accumulated to setting new standards for imaging in North America.
Congratulations Dr. Gelfand on your Clinical Care Achievement Award!
