Dr. Alexander Towbin has been named as a finalist for a 2024 HIMSS Changemaker Award in the Physician Executive Category. Dr. Towbin is an internationally recognized leader in imaging informatics. As one of the co-chairs of the HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Community, he has led the creation of solutions to enable efficient patient and provider-centered workflows. Key accomplishments include the development of encounters-based imaging workflows, image enabling the patient portal, and the development of multi-vendor imaging sharing solutions. Dr. Towbin routinely advocates for patient safety, equitable use of artificial intelligence, efficient workflow, and the use of standards.

His works have been published in several medical articles, such as the American Journal of Radiology and the American Institute of Ultrasound. He has been providing these services to the Radiology Department since 1996.
