Cincinnati Children’s Radiology Celebrates Inaugural MVP Award Winner Julie Young

Congratulations go out to Julie Young, MRI tech, MRI clinical manager, and the recipient of the inaugural Radiology MVP award. Her nomination called out her selfless dedication to the department, patients, and staff and named her an unsung hero.

“…Julie is on the job 24/7; concerns for the continued high performance of the MRI department never truly leave her mind, and [she’s] extremely conscientious and proactive, following up on MRI system service and/or patient exam issues, often well into the weekday nights and early mornings as well as on weekends. Additional examples of these selfless dedicated behaviors include coming in Sunday evening to spend the night before the predicted recent epic snowstorm in order to be prepared to scan emergent in-house patients (outpatient MRIs had been cancelled in preparation) in full knowledge it would be likely the other MRI techs would not be able to safely commute in Monday morning (nor would she had wanted them to even attempt)… Julie Young consistently executes her responsibilities in an extremely professional, thoughtful, respectful and calm manner, which together with her high competence and compassion, has garnered her the respect and admiration of the radiologists, her staff, colleagues and co-workers…”

The Radiology Employee Experience team received 18 nominations for the first round of the award. Nominees spread across all areas and team roles in the inpatient and outpatient departments, including technologists, clinical managers, reading room assistants, administrative assistants, radiologists, IS, and even our EVS partners. Nominations highlighted the collaboration, creative thinking, dedication, and compassion for patients and coworkers that make each day a little brighter for everyone they interact with.

We thank Julie for her continued dedication to MRI and radiology as a whole and express our gratitude for the strong, dedicated, and compassionate team she has built beneath her by her living example. Congratulations, Julie!

Thank you also to all the other nominees who continue to put their best foot forward every day, ensuring everyone around them is cared for while the system runs smoothly. You are the unsung heroes of radiology!
