“As the healthcare landscape becomes more complex with increasing demands on nurse leaders, we believe that those who create an environment of compassion and recognition for others strongly deserve to be recognized themselves.
Despite working under tremendous pressure through their leadership, these nurse leaders provide a haven of safety for staff, both physically and emotionally. In this environment, nurses are inspired to do their very best by nurse leaders who are role modeling carrying behaviors. These leaders provide a setting where compassion is valued and staff.”
-DAISY Award Presenter
On December 21, 2023, Anesthesia Imaging (AI) Clinical Director Anna Lee was awarded the Fall Leadership DAISY Award 2023. Friends and family gathered to surprise Anna with the award.
The DAISY Award recognizes nurses for their excellence in patient care. Nurses use their education, skills, and compassion to make a difference in the lives of others.
The DAISY Award is supported by the not-for-profit DAISY (Disease Attacking the Immune System) Foundation. Bonnie and J. Mark Barnes created this foundation and award as a way to remember their son J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died of complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura. During his prolonged hospital stay, his nurses did such a great job of caring for him that the Barnes family created an award that continues to recognize nurses throughout the country every day.
Our radiology department and the rest of Cincinnati Children’s honor the DAISY Award nominees and recipients for their outstanding nursing clinical skills, compassionate care, and commitment to excellence. We are proud to have you on our team!
