On Tuesday, August 15, Anesthesia Imaging (AI) nurse Allison Elsner was awarded the July DAISY Award by the Center for Professional Excellence (CPE). The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Burns who passed from an autoimmune disorder at 33 years old. DAISY is an acronym for “Diseases Attacking the Immune System,” and the award was created to recognize outstanding nursing care that is compassionate and caring and goes above and beyond expectations. It is now an internationally recognized award program.
Allison was nominated by a mother she worked extensively with when she was with the colorectal team. The mother noted Allison’s patience, calm demeanor, personal presence, and willingness to talk this mom through every anxiety and question that arose with the new diagnosis her son received. CPE receives upwards of 70 DAISY nominations each month for nurses across the entire organization. After review by the committee, Allison was chosen to receive the award based on extensive examples of her caring dedication. The AI and Patient Services Leadership team were honored to present the award to Allison on Tuesday and deeply grateful to have had her join the team this year.
Congratulations, Allison!

The Radiology and Anesthesia Imaging Departments have a symbiotic relationship in our MRI Division. Our MRI technologist acquires the MRI images and anesthesia nurses and doctors help our patients go to sleep to prevent movement in the scanner and alleviate anxiety.
