It’s official, a 3T MRI scanner has finally made it to the Cincinnati Children’s Radiology Department at the Liberty Campus. Our Liberty Campus MRI re-opened in July with 3T imaging services (after being closed for a short time to remove the older 1.5T magnet). The GE SIGNA™ Architect 3T MRI system allows for greater signal, higher resolution and overall improved image quality for specific scans. It will also allow us to expand our MRI services, scanning a few more research and clinical studies than we previously could scan at the Liberty Campus. Some of these additional studies include Tacern Tuberous Sclerosis studies, Rosa Robot mapping studies, and possibly MRI functional studies (the 3T has the capability to perform functional MRIs, but has yet to be implemented). The new scanner will allow us to scan whole body imaging exams (which were previously sent to the Burnet Campus), as well as have some additional advanced applications in the imaging of the abdomen that we were unable to scan at this facility in the past. Cincinnati Children’s is excited to bring these amazing new techniques and technology to those living or traveling to the Liberty Campus region.
The great news is we continue to offer the same outstanding services that we provided prior to our scanner replacement, including both Anesthesia and non-sedate services. Our hours will remain the same as before, Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., and we continue to have the same exceptional staff and friendly faces to support our patients’ needs.
