Tonieboxes Bring Comfort and Joy to Radiology Patients

The Radiology Department at Cincinnati Children’s is celebrating a thoughtful donation that is already making a meaningful difference for our patients. Thanks to the generosity of Brittany Muench, a former reading room assistant, and the company Tonies, the department has received five Tonieboxes and 25 Tonie characters to share with children during their imaging procedures.

Brittany Muench and (mom) Lori Muench

Tonieboxes are soft, screen-free audio players designed just for kids. When paired with small figurines called Tonies, children can enjoy stories, songs, and educational content in an engaging, hands-on way—no screens, no buttons, just imagination.

Radiology Child Life Group

For many children, imaging procedures can feel unfamiliar or intimidating, and families often experience stress right along with them. By offering Tonieboxes during these visits, the Radiology Child Life Team can provide a comforting distraction that helps ease anxiety and makes the experience more positive for everyone.

This donation is a wonderful example of how community partners help us enhance the patient experience in meaningful ways. We are incredibly grateful to Brittany for remembering her radiology family and coordinating this gift, and to Tonies for supporting our mission to create a welcoming, child-friendly environment.

Together, we are helping make every Radiology visit a little easier—and a lot more fun—for our patients and their families.
