The Recognition Road Show travels to Cincinnati Children’s sites throughout the region, delivering fun-filled festivities, thoughtful gifts, and well-deserved recognition directly to employees. It’s a unique and engaging way to say “thank you” to the people who make our organization exceptional every day.
During a recent stop, radiology employees and trainees were treated to a memorable experience, highlighted by a special guest appearance from none other than Mr. Red—the beloved Cincinnati Reds mascot. From photo opportunities to cheerful interactions, his visit helped create a lively and celebratory atmosphere that brought smiles across the department.
In addition to staff, our radiography students were able to participate in the festivities, and their enthusiasm was unmistakable. For many, it was not just a break from the routine, but a chance to feel truly welcomed and valued as part of the Cincinnati Children’s community. Events like these reinforce the importance of inclusion and connection, even for those just beginning their healthcare journeys.
While the Road Show celebrates the present, radiology is also making impactful strides toward the future. Historically, radiography student programs have been concentrated at the Base and Liberty campuses. However, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Radiology Department managers Tonya Nicholas, Susan Smith, and Billie Howard, significant progress has been made to broaden these opportunities.
By partnering with the University of Cincinnati and other educational programs, the team has successfully expanded student placement options across the department. This expansion marks an exciting new chapter—most notably with students now training at the Mason location for the very first time.

Glenn Miñano is a media specialist in the Department of Radiology, providing graphic design, photography, printing, video services, and administration of the department’s online properties. His works have been published in several medical articles, such as the American Journal of Radiology and the American Institute of Ultrasound. He has been providing these services to the Radiology Department since 1996.
