Radiology Welcomes Kären Rutledge and Kisten Bartlett to the Department

Meet two new members of the Radiology department! Kären Rutledge is a grant coordinator at our Imaging Research Center (IRC) and Kisten Bartlett is our new senior financial analyst in IRC as well. Here they are in their own words!

Hi, my name is Kären (Car-in) Rutledge. I’m not originally from Cincinnati, but it has become home. My husband and I met and married here. After traveling for the past 10 years, we’ve returned to plant our roots.

I moved to Cincinnati during my senior year of high school and graduated from Oak Hills High School. I was born in Southern California and spent most of my childhood there, from fourth to eleventh grade. My childhood was filled with frequent moves, and my most memorable moments were spent with friends and family. We took cross-country train trips, motor home adventures, and spent most of our summers on Big Bass Lake in Michigan. I lived in California, Missouri, New Mexico, Colorado, and Ohio as a child. As an adult, I’ve lived in Ohio, Texas (twice), Colorado (again), Maryland, and Virginia.

I am a product of Cincinnati Children’s and was thrilled to join such a beautiful establishment. I wanted a career that would be enduring and allow me to be part of something larger than myself. Cincinnati Children’s provides me with that.

I am a grant coordinator in radiology research. I assist in gathering all the required elements for grants and formatting them into cohesive documents. Our team navigates the application process and ensures the maintenance of grants for radiology research. Research is crucial as it enables us to provide the best care to our patients.

On a personal note, I am a mom to two girls, have a wonderful husband, and drink more coffee than I probably should. I consume any and all true crime content. I love to hike, camp, fish, and explore. I’m also a photographer, capturing moments for couples and individuals across the United States. DIY projects are another hobby of mine—I enjoy refurbishing furniture and building random things in my free time.

I just finished reading One Last Child by Anni Taylor. Her Tallman’s Valley Detectives series is amazing.

Hi! My name is Kisten Bartlett, and I am the new senior financial analyst within IRC.

I grew up in Burlington, Kentucky, so just a short drive over the river from Cincinnati Children’s. I have three younger siblings. Growing up, we spent a lot of time swimming and playing outside in the summers, camping in the fall, and attending a lot of each other’s sporting events. My favorite tradition that my family had growing up was going to The Big Tree Plantation and cutting down a fresh Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving.

When it came time for college graduation, I had no idea what my next steps would be as it was at the height of COVID and the world was still shut down. I worked at Cincinnati Children’s throughout college, so when graduation approached, I was able to stay on with a full-time position. As a financial analyst, I enjoy having found that I can use my organizational skills, orientation to detail, and outgoing personality daily.

Growing up I was accident prone, so I spent a lot of time here at Cincinnati Children’s for doctors’ visits. I attended the University of Cincinnati for my undergraduate degree, so getting a part-time job at the hospital was more out of convenience at the time. However, over the years I have loved my job more and more each day.

I enjoy spending time with my family and two dogs (Bella and Hank), exercising, going to Bengals and Red’s games with my boyfriend, and taking lake trips to my family’s condo at Lake Cumberland. The last movie I saw was “Despicable Me 4” and the last book that I read was The Iowa Murders by Rod Kackley.
