In Cincy Magazine’s December 2018-January 2019 issue, several of our Cincinnati Children’s radiologists were nominated in the 11th annual Best Doctor issue in which 416 doctors in the TriState (Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky) are listed and selected by their peers. The list is comprised of doctors whom other doctors recommend.

Here are our doctors who made the cut:
Dr. Michael J. Gelfand retired this year, but he’s continuing to work in Radiology in an Emeritus role. Dr. Gelfand received his BA from the University of Michigan and his MD from Stanford University. After two years at the National Institutes of Health, he completed residencies in pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s and nuclear medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He has served as president of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, and served on the board of directors of that organization for 10 years.
Dr. Alan S. Brody completed his fellowship in pediatric radiology in 1987 and then returned to the Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 1995. Dr. Brody is active in the Department of Radiology of University of Cincinnati as well as Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in clinical care, research, teaching and administration. The primary focus of his clinical duties is pediatric thoracic imaging.
Dr. Brian D. Coley completed his medical education in California before completing a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Cincinnati Children’s in 1995. Since then he has served as section chief of ultrasound and assistant director of pediatric radiology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In August 2011 he returned to Cincinnati Children’s to serve as radiologist-in-chief.
Dr. Jonathan R. Dillman earned his MD from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2003. He completed his Fellowship from the Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program, University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
His clinical interests are imaging of the pediatric gastrointestinal tract (including bowel, liver, and pancreas); and imaging of the pediatric genitourinary tract. On the research side, his interests include ultrasound and MRI evaluation of Crohn’s disease; and ultrasound and MRI detection and measurement of liver fibrosis.
Currently Dr. Dillman is the Associate Chief of Research in the Department of Radiology and Medical Director in the Imaging Research Center, a Division of Radiology.
Dr. Alexander J. Towbin is a radiologist, the Neil D. Johnson Chair of Radiology Informatics, and associate chief of Radiology, Clinical Operations and Radiology Informatics at Cincinnati Children’s. He is a recognized leader in pediatric abdominal imaging, pediatric oncologic imaging, imaging informatics, and quality improvement. Dr. Towbin is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on topics including pediatric liver tumors, pediatric cancer imaging, the use of MRI-based contrast agents, customer service, social media in medicine, enterprise imaging, structured reporting, and workflow efficiency. His research focuses on imaging of the liver, cancer imaging, clinical informatics, quality improvement, and machine learning.

Glenn Miñano is a media specialist in the Department of Radiology, providing graphic design, photography, printing, video services, and administration of the department’s online properties. His works have been published in several medical articles, such as the American Journal of Radiology and the American Institute of Ultrasound. He has been providing these services to the Radiology Department since 1996.
