Patient experience week (April 24-28) is an annual event initially started by the Beryl Institute (a global community of practice dedicated to improving the patient experience through collaboration and shared knowledge). During this week, hospitals across the nation take some time out of each day to honor their employees and focus on the impact that they have on the patient and family experience. Our Radiology Department would like to thank our employees for all that they do each and every day to connect with our patients and families and give them the best experience possible while they’re in our department for imaging studies or procedures.
We have an exciting agenda this year; through our western theme of “Partners in Patient Experience,” we’re honoring our employees, thanking them for all of their hard work and taking a few extra moments to celebrate our relationship with our patients. Events throughout the week will include sharing peer-nominated patient experience awards, celebrating with with treats, and hosting activities for our employees and patients in our waiting room. Many of us will dress in our best western attire, and if we are lucky, we might even have a surprise visit from Woody and Jessie from the movie Toy Story. Back by popular demand, we will also have a group of employees who will deliver donated items to the Ronald McDonald House.
New on the docket this year is a guest speaker from the Emergency Department, the esteemed Dr. Patricia Chambers, who will speak to us about “Radiology and the Emergency Department – Partners in Care.” And finally, as our president of the board of trustees says, “Thanks for what you have done, thanks for what you are currently doing and, most importantly, thanks for what you are going to do.”
