New, Faster Access to Medical Imaging at Cincinnati Children’s

Post Date: August 28, 2026
New, Faster Access to Medical Imaging at Cincinnati Children’s

Sharing medical images is now easier than ever for patients and families at Cincinnati Children’s. A new self-service process gives patients direct access to their radiology images and the ability to quickly share them with healthcare providers, reducing delays and simplifying care coordination.

This enhanced process eliminates much of the manual work previously required to obtain and distribute medical images. In the past, patients often needed to contact Health Information Management (HIM) and wait for their request to be processed before receiving their imaging records. Now, patients can take control of the process themselves, accessing and sharing studies immediately.

Once a study is available, patients can share their imaging in two convenient ways: They can securely send access to their imaging studies directly to a healthcare provider via email or print an access sheet that can be provided directly to a physician or care team. The sheet includes instructions for accessing the imaging, a unique access code, and secure information needed to view the study. This option is especially helpful for appointments with outside providers who may need quick access to imaging results.

As part of this modernization effort, Cincinnati Children’s is moving away from routinely providing imaging on CDs or discs. While discs may still be available when necessary, the preferred method is now digital access and sharing. This approach is faster, more secure, and more convenient for both patients and providers.

How to Access Your Images

Getting started is simple:

  1. Login to your MyChart account.
  2. Navigate to the Test Results page.
  3. To access all of your Cincinnati Children’s imaging in one place, click the “Please Read…” section at the top of the page; then click the “RADIOLOGY IMAGES” link.
  4. Or click the link available under each individual study’s report.
  5. View, access, and share your imaging as needed.

This enhancement reflects Cincinnati Children’s ongoing commitment to improving the patient experience through accessible digital tools. By providing immediate access to imaging studies and easy sharing options, patients and families can spend less time managing records and more time focusing on care.
