Meet Joelle Burdine: A Passionate Medical Professional with a Diverse Background
Hello, my name is Jo. I grew up in a small town in California and moved to Cincinnati when I was 23. My first degree was in English communication with a minor in chemistry, and I spent several years working as a substitute teacher. During that time, I became a proud mom of two boys, Jeffrey (15) and Ben (14).
Despite my initial career in education, I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field and had a particular interest in ultrasound. As my boys grew older and more independent, I seized the opportunity to go back to school and pursue my passion for ultrasound.
One of the unique aspects of my life is my love for collecting odd pets. Our household is home to a variety of creatures, including quail, reptiles, insects, and even a grumpy hedgehog. When it comes to vacations, my favorite destinations are St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands and visiting family in California. In my free time, I indulge in hobbies such as reading, photography, and gardening.
Before joining Cincinnati Children’s, my experience was primarily in perinatal ultrasound. I am now looking forward to expanding my knowledge and skills in pediatric ultrasound. I am excited about this new chapter and eager to meet all of you as I embark on this journey.
Meet Jamie Grossman: From Theater to Pediatric Ultrasound
My name is Jamie Grossman, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as a new ultrasound technologist in the radiology department. Originally from New York, I have been proud to call Cincinnati my home since 2011. Recently, I graduated from Cincinnati State, adding to my previous degree from Syracuse University. My journey to this point has been anything but conventional, as I spent nearly 20 years working in theater as a stage manager before deciding to change careers.
The decision to transition from theater to the medical field was driven by my desire to work with children. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to join the leading pediatric hospital in the country. The chance to contribute to the well-being of young patients is a privilege that I do not take lightly.
My family life is vibrant and active, thanks to my two amazing daughters who keep my husband and me busy with their numerous sports and activities. We love spending time outdoors, especially hiking and swimming. Raising my children in Cincinnati has been a joy, as we have found a wonderful community of neighbors and friends. Watching my daughters create their own cherished memories reminds me of my own childhood, filled with summers at the pool and running around the neighborhood with friends.
I am excited to bring my unique background and passion for pediatric care to the radiology department. I look forward to meeting and working with all of you as I embark on this new chapter in my career.
