We are thrilled to introduce Erin Sanderson, who joins Cincinnati Children’s Imaging Informatics/Enterprise Imaging team as a systems engineer. Erin’s journey to this role is marked by passion, curiosity, and a deep commitment to clinical science and health care.
A Journey Rooted in Ohio
Hailing from the small town of Carroll, Ohio, Erin grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Hocking Hills. This picturesque backdrop fostered her love of the outdoors, a passion she carries with her to this day.
Erin moved to Cincinnati in 2015 to attend the University of Cincinnati, where she quickly fell in love with the city. Over the years, she’s successfully encouraged friends and family to make Cincinnati their home as well.
Finding a Niche in Health Care and Technology
With a strong desire to contribute to the health care field, Erin initially focused her studies on biomedical research and neuroscience. During this time, she discovered the transformative power of technology in health care.
Her professional journey began at Medpace Reference Laboratories, where she spent nearly six years as a clinical database programmer. In this role, she collaborated with programming teams and end users to design and implement clinical trials. This experience ignited her passion for informatics and inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in health informatics from the University of Cincinnati.
Realizing a Dream at Cincinnati Children’s
Joining Cincinnati Children’s is a dream come true for Erin. “As my career has evolved, it became important to me to find an organization that I could be proud to invest my time with,” Erin shared. “No place could make me prouder than CCHMC. Being surrounded by some of the most knowledgeable people in the field is inspiring.”
As a systems engineer, Erin supports imaging systems across the hospital and leverages her passion for data analytics to improve workflows and system efficiency.
Beyond Work: A Life Filled with Joy and Creativity
Outside of her professional pursuits, Erin leads a full and vibrant life. She loves spending time with her niece, Elouise (18 months), and nephew, Isaak (6 years), and is a devoted “cat mom” to Sage and Basil. Erin and her husband Jacob enjoy tending to their flower and vegetable garden, often sharing fresh produce with friends and colleagues.
A self-proclaimed DIY enthusiast, Erin hosts a monthly craft club and always has a creative project in the works. She is also an avid reader, recently enjoying The Berry Pickers and the Legends and Lattes duology by Travis Baldree.
Excited for the Future
Erin is eager to contribute to the meaningful work being done at Cincinnati Children’s. “I feel so lucky to be part of the CCHMC team and am looking forward to learning more each day.”
Welcome to the team, Erin! We are excited to see the impact of your skills and passion on our imaging informatics efforts.
