Every year, the Co-operative Society, one of Cincinnati Children’s dedicated volunteer organizations, hosts the much-anticipated Annual Holiday Tree Contest. This festive tradition brings departments together to showcase creativity, teamwork, and holiday spirit. This year, Liberty’s Radiology Department was honored to participate in the competition, embracing the joyful theme of “Toy Storyland.”
The contest rules were clear: design and decorate a tree during the allotted time provided by the Co-operative Society. All decorations had to be child-safe, fire prevention standards needed to be met, and creativity was key. Trees were judged based on creativity, child appeal, interpretation of the theme, tidiness, and effective use of materials. An external panel of volunteer judges with design backgrounds carefully evaluated each tree.
Under the leadership of Anita Robbins, Liberty Radiology formed an eight-member Holiday Tree Decoration Committee. The team included:
In preparation for the contest, the committee gathered for a craft party, hosted by Anita Robbins, where team members brainstormed ideas and hand-crafted decorations. Each ornament and decorative element reflected the colorful, playful spirit of Toy Storyland and adhered to the contest guidelines.
Although Liberty Radiology did not place in the competition, the team’s tree was a stunning representation of creativity and dedication. The vibrant decorations and attention to detail captured the hearts of all who saw it, bringing smiles to patients, families, and staff alike.
The Annual Holiday Tree Contest, which began in 2002 at the Base location and expanded to Liberty in 2009, continues to be a beloved tradition at Cincinnati Children’s. With a history dating back to 1883, the Co-operative Society has long been spreading holiday cheer throughout the hospital.
Liberty Radiology is incredibly proud of their Toy Storyland tree and the effort put forth by the dedicated committee. Their hard work not only created a festive atmosphere but also contributed to the shared joy and community spirit of the holiday season at Cincinnati Children’s.
