It’s never been easier to say thank you

Here at Cincinnati Children’s Radiology, to help us recognize our peers who make our lives and the lives of our patients better, our Quality Improvement & Compliance division have started the Above and Beyond award program. By filling out the Above and Beyond form on our Radiology home page we can nominate our colleagues for the Above and Beyond Award. The nominees will get notified that one of their peers thought it worthwhile to recognize them for their good deeds, plus a copy will be sent to their manager.

The Safety Award winner for FY16Q1 is Heidi Gardner, one of our own safety coaches! The Safety Award is given quarterly to the Radiology employee who receives the most safety related Above and Beyonds.

See below for the Above and Beyonds that Heidi received:

  1. I had a very long call weekend in MRI this past weekend and Heidi was extremely helpful. She helped me with transferring ICU patients, getting extra tubing for the ICU nurse, always asking if I needed anything, and even helped me safely get patients in and out of MRI and maintaining MRI safety as a priority. Thanks Heidi!
  2. In the middle of reading a complicated MRI, Heidi called me in the reading room to give me a heads up about the CT that she had just completed. She recognized that the ventricles were much larger than they had been in the past. She could have assumed that I would get to it soon, but she went the extra step and took the time to call and let me know. I quit reading the scan that I was working on, read the CT and went immediately to the ED to discuss the results with the Emergency Medicine attending. Thank you for going the extra step!

Heidi received a beautiful keepsake plaque, chocolates and a ceramic pig. She will have her name placed on the Safety Award plaque in the Large conference room. In addition, she will be recognized on the Radiology webpage.
