Meet Angus Levon Acton, affectionately known as Gus, Gussie, or Gus Gus. Though originally from Eaton, Ohio, Gus lived in Cincinnati’s Hyde Park with his wife before moving to Missouri for his residency. Now, he is excited to return to Cincinnati, bringing his expertise and enthusiasm to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Fond Memories of Eaton
Gus recalls his childhood in Eaton with great affection. He spent his early years riding bikes, playing outside, and enjoying video games with neighborhood friends. His high school days were filled with sports and camaraderie, including football, wrestling, and track. While some memories are best left unshared, these experiences shaped Gus into the person he is today.
A Lifelong Calling to Medicine
From a young age, Gus was destined for the medical field. His grandmother fondly remembers him declaring his future as a doctor at just 4 years old. Perhaps inspired by his parents watching “Doogie Howser, MD,” Gus has always had a passion for medicine.
Why Cincinnati Children’s Hospital?
Gus is thrilled to join Cincinnati Children’s, attracted by the world-class providers and educators across multiple medical disciplines. Being back in his old stomping grounds is an added bonus, making this opportunity even more special.
Role and Responsibilities
As a clinical fellow in Radiology, Gus’s duties include protocoling appropriate imaging studies to answer clinical questions; interpreting medical images; and communicating findings to providers, patients, and families. He is dedicated to learning as much as possible during his time at Cincinnati Children’s, making the most of this invaluable experience.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, Gus enjoys a variety of hobbies. He loves outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking, and is an avid pickleball player. He also enjoys eating and occasionally cooking, playing the guitar (though he modestly claims to do so poorly), and binge-watching “garbage television” such as “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” Movies are another favorite pastime, with “The Count of Monte Cristo” being his all-time favorite film.
Recent Reads and Watches
The last book Gus read was Crack the Core by Prometheus Lionhart, and he recently listened to Rebel Rising by Rebel Wilson. In terms of movies, he streamed “Dune 2” and watched “Longlegs” in theaters.
Gus is excited to be part of Cincinnati Children’s and looks forward to contributing to the team while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
