
Cincinnati Children’s is proud to announce that Andrew Trout, MD, has been named radiologist-in-chief, effective October 20, 2025. Dr. Trout has been part of Cincinnati Children’s since 2014 and completed his radiology fellowship here in 2012.
Dr. Trout currently serves as associate chief of faculty development and director of clinical research in the Department of Radiology. In these positions, he has helped support the professional growth of newer faculty members and managed the department’s research programs.
In his new role, Dr. Trout will lead the entire Radiology Department and join the hospital’s group of chief leaders. He will continue to focus on improving patient outcomes, growing programs, and guiding the department’s future success.
From 2016 to 2024, Dr. Trout served as director of Nuclear Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s, overseeing one of the nation’s busiest nuclear medicine programs. He helped modernize clinical protocols, selected advanced imaging equipment, and led major research projects, including federally funded studies through the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Trout earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Carleton College and his medical degree from Mayo Medical School. He completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Michigan, a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Cincinnati Children’s, and a fellowship in nuclear radiology at the University of Cincinnati.
He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Radiology, and Pediatric Radiology.
