On Wednesday, September 4, over 100 employees filled Sabin Auditorium for the 6th annual Dr. Curtis Sheldon Compassionate Caregiver Award Ceremony, with more than 200 joining virtually.
The Compassionate Caregiver Award reflects Cincinnati Children’s commitment to compassion as a vital part of healing. It recognizes those who deliver exceptional medical care with empathy and understanding for patients, families, and colleagues.
During his remarks, President and CEO Steve Davis, MD, MMM, emphasized, “Every day, over 6,000 families come here, and all of you impact their lives in ways you may not fully realize unless you’ve been in their shoes.”
This year, 53 individuals were nominated from 40 departments. Radiology’s Dianne Hater was one of two individual finalists.
Here is what was said about Dianne:
Dianne Hater was recognized for her work in Radiology, where she has been instrumental in developing the Patient and Family Experience (PFE) program. Dianne’s nominators emphasized the transformative nature of her contributions:
“Dianne’s compassion has led to innovations that directly improve patient care, such as creating the ideal patient experience, implementing patient profiles, and integrating family notifications into the Caren app. Her efforts have consistently made our Radiology PFE scores among the best in the nation.”
The Dr. Curtis Sheldon Compassionate Caregiver Award continues to highlight the deep commitment of Cincinnati Children’s to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. This year’s ceremony not only celebrated the exceptional work of individuals like Dianne Hater, whose innovations in Radiology have profoundly impacted patient care, but also reminded us of all of the lasting influence compassion can have on the healing process. As Cincinnati Children’s looks to the future, the dedication to both medical excellence and empathetic care remains at the heart of its mission, ensuring that every patient and family feels supported and valued.
