Anesthesia Recovery Room Nurses: Supporting Safe and Smooth Radiology Visits

At our Cincinnati Children’s Burnet and Liberty campuses, a specialized team of anesthesia recovery room nurses carefully screens all patients who require anesthesia for radiology exams.

This team reviews patient charts in advance for those scheduled for MRI, CT, or nuclear medicine scans. Their goal is to ensure that every patient is fully prepared for a safe, smooth, and efficient visit to the Radiology department.

During the review process, the nurses address important details such as:

  • Medical history and previous anesthesia experiences
  • Eating and drinking instructions before the procedure
  • The need for behavioral health support
  • Involvement of child life specialists
  • Opportunities to coordinate other tests or labs with the scheduled scan

By planning ahead, this team has helped reduce last-minute cancellations and rescheduled appointments. Their thorough preparation ensures that families receive the highest level of safety and quality care during their experience.

If you have questions about an upcoming procedure with anesthesia, please contact our team—we’re here to help.
