The Radiology Family Recognition Award
Each month, through the patient experience survey, the Radiology department receives many comments from patients and families about the exceptional care they receive during their Radiology visit.
The Radiology Family Recognition Award utilizes family feedback to spotlight those employees who best exemplify our Values: Making a Difference, Telling the Truth, Work as a Team, Respect Everyone.
Emily VanSwearingen and Josiah (the facility dog) have received many positive survey comments over the past several months.
Here are just a few:
We absolutely loved our visit with Josiah and his Child Life specialist handler. They put my daughter at ease about the visit, anesthesia, and MRI. It was an incredibly touching experience.
Our child life specialist Emily (and Josiah) were amazing!! My daughter does well with medical procedures and would have done just fine without them, but having them there made her visit so much better. Having Josiah lay with her while she got her IV and distract her while drinking the contrast helped everything go by a little quicker. She already forgot most of the medical portion of her visit and just remembers Josiah and her sticker book. Cannot thank Emily and her furry coworker enough for exceeding our expectations of our visit!
Josiah the dog. He was so amazing and helped my child to be calm and happy and not nervous about her procedure. I wish he was available for all testing she has to have done.
Emily in Child Life was extremely helpful!
The CCLS was absolutely amazing with my child. The uncomfortable procedure could not have gone better thanks to all the staff that was working with us. The women working with us were so kind, patient, and caring. They did a wonderful job.
We were so thankful to have Josiah and the child life specialist in our room for the procedure on this day. It made things go much more smoothly. It just really honestly changed the whole atmosphere of the environment. I felt like my daughter felt more comfortable. Jen, who was able to cast my daughter within a few seconds, was wonderful. My daughter had had a lot of previous bad experiences, not at Cincinnati Children’s, with trying to be cast. They listened to our concerns, and they were able to help her and make the procedure go as smooth as possible. So for that, I’m very thankful.
